R LittlerI'm not really sure whether or not Datatrack are good value for money as i did not get comparative quotes from other companies. I do know, however, that they reduced their price when I told them that I would not be able to afford their first quote and they suggested that I pay in two instalments. That was so helpful and made such a difference. I also know that they worked really hard to get all my data back for me for which I am really grateful. I would recommend them to anyone.

Initially my failed hard drive was sent to another firm which claims to be one of the cheapest for data recovery in the UK, and from the information given them over the phone, they said that recovery should not cost more than £97: however after evaluating my drive they said that the Head Disk Assembly Unit had failed and would have to be replaced before recovery could be attempted: this would cost £365. Being familiar with computing I felt this alleged failure did not match the symptoms so I had the drive returned immediately. I then sent it to Datatrack Labs who quickly confirmed my suspicions - the Head Disk Assembly Unit had not failed and they achieved a full recovery of my data for about £100 less than the other firm and included a new 500 GB external hard drive. Within 2 days of paying my new removable HDD was delivered fully boxed with all instructions, and powered up first time no problems. The original file structure works perfectly, everything is where it needs to be. I can't thank the team at Datatrack enough for the quality and professionalism of the service I recieved start to finish, and would reccomend this service onto anyone in a similar situation as me. (I have also learnt the lesson of backing up which the new HDD can do at the touch of one button)

On every occasion I received a prompt, helpful and friendly service and more importantly I received my recovered data. Every recovery was less than £170 which was considerably less than another company quoted. The third occasion I had lost data, I decided to send it to another company(Rapid Data) as they quoted me a maximum of £110 over the telephone. I promptly sent my hard drive to their London address and was promised an evaluation within 24 hours. I called them on the Tuesday morning to see if they had received my hard drive. I was told someone would call me back. Wednesday arrived and still no call. I called again on the Wednesday, informed someone would call me back. Still no call and it was now Thursday. I called again on the Thursday. I finally received a call on the Friday, I was informed all data was recoverable but the disk required a 'Forensic Rebuild' and the charge for this service was £395 plus VAT! I had only formatted my hard drive! I have called a number of data recovery companies, not one has heard of the term 'Forensic Rebuild' I demanded the hard drive be returned, according to the shipping label it was returned by Fields Associates/Fields Data Recovery, how strange? After a wasted 7 days, I sent the hard drive to Datatrack Labs, I received the recovered data within 5 days. I can't recommend them highly enough.
